there are a lot of verbs and adjectives that i haven’t yet comprehend as a whole. the interesting part of english and few other languages is: there’s an arsenal of choice to convey and express what’s on the mind.

today, i came upon a valedictorian speech by Gary Vee who’s graduating from NYU Stern. the main idea of his speech is to embrace adversity. i instantly googled it and here’s what i found:

apparently there is a word that’s more sophisticated than difficulty or misfortune, it is adversity.

a reflection came to me, that everything i have in this world can be taken anytime and anywhere. in a blink of an eye, my day, even my life, can radically change into something different.

then, a thought popped into mind:

will there be adversity if i’m standing still?

yes

now, a slightly different question:

will there be adversity if i pursue the things that i really want in this life?

yes…

but there’s a major difference between the two adversity:

if i’m standing still, there will be adversity plus nothing to gain
if i pursue the things that i want, there will be adversity plus everything to gain

let’s make up our mind and choose the latter.

let’s face adversity with everything to gain.

adversity is going to stop by anyway. i don’t have the power to choose when, what, or where it’s going to happen.

adversity is inevitable

something will come. it can be scary. something will hit. it can be painful. something will leave. it can feel empty.

call it fate or destiny, it wont go away easily.

push through with faith, belief, and effort.

win or lose, it’s a heavenly matter, already written at a place our mind can’t comprehend

lean toward the efforts rather than results.

good luck, bad luck, who knows?

as Alfred, the butler of the Wayne family once said:

Why do we fall, sir?
So that we can learn to pick ourselves up

we’ll learn to pick ourselves up. we’ll learn through adversity.
